Smit pushed Thorn because Thorn was trying to make Conrad Jantjes eat turf! It wasn’t an unprovoked attack from Smit; irrespective, up ending him like that (looked a bit like a spear to be honest) off the ball is the sign of a wholesome player? He put Smit out of the Tri-Nations with that. Dickinson handled the situation apallingly too.

no head highs dont but blatant forearms to the head of playmakers do, and smit shoved down on the back of thorns head, so thorn retaliated, and all he did was up end him, it wasnt a spear tackle.

Name one notable instance of foul play from Victor Matfield! You can take a look at every Tri-Nations match that Brad Thorn featured in during 2008 and find something dirty; most notably spear-tackling John Smit, off the ball. I’ll admit Bakkies Botha is a bit rough, but all enforcer locks do what he does. Schalk is no more “dirty” a player than McCaw, just Kiwi and Ozzie refs are particularly bad and target the guy with the bright blonde hair.
